Murray Boal - Gigs & News
June 2008
After an extremely cold April, with temperatures down to -13, May turned out to be quite nice. No frost, enough rain and mostly warm days. The market garden started way behind, but has now caught up. It has been a bit of a mad scramble to get everything planted. Except for a few late crops everything is in the ground now. The warm May has also been good for the weeds. As my partner Janet always says, “June is weeding month!”
We are once again doing our “Box a Week” organic vegetable delivery program
The cold April meant feeding our sheep a little longer than usual. The warm and wet May has made for lots of grass so the sheep are happy now out on the pastures. Hopefully our lambs will grow well this summer. ( and the coyotes stay away)
Music wise, I have been working on some new material with The Cultivators. Our drummer Chris is leaving soon on a two month biking trip through the western U.S. So we won’t be performing as a band again until September (see below for details).
Downoad this!

I do however have a few things lined up for summer. Most notably ; playing at the ArtsWells Festival in Wells BC again. I am joining forces with Bob Campbell, as the ‘wingdamramblers’. We have been hard at work getting our act together, playing a combination of our songs on a variety of instruments. It’s been good to play with Bob again. I am also playing at Billy Barker Days in Quesnel, solo I think. Maybe see you out there somewhere

February 2008
It’s been a snowy winter here in the Cariboo so far this year. We already have more snow on the ground than the last couple of winters. It has meant a lot of plowing and shoveling, especially the ice rink. We have been skating for almost a month now and have had some great games!
It has been three months since my last “gigs and news” update. Here is what I’ve been doing.
I spent most October working in my shop building wooden boxes and wine crates and pretty well all of November selling the boxes at craft shows around central British Columbia. I sold lots of boxes!
Janet and I did get away for a couple of weeks in early December. We went to the south coast of Cuba. Hung out on the beach and did a little bit of touring around. We had a great time, heard lots of good music, drank some good rum, and got lots of sun! We missed all the cold weather that we had in early December (-25).
We had a quiet Xmas here on the farm with friends and family. We had a few music jams and regular afternoon hockey games on the rink.
Since early January I have been working for my cabinet making pal Bob Blaue. I will work for him probably until mid March, when we start lambing and the greenhouses here at Dragon Mt, Farm. Bob also makes rocking chairs; you can check them out at www.rockingchairs.ca.
On the music front, I have been still trying to get together with my band mates the Cultivators. We have had a few good rehearsals and are working on some new tunes. We do have a local gig lined up, see below for the details.
I have also been playing music with my old friend Bob Campbell (you can check Bob out on my Links page). We call ourselves the Wingdamramblers, playing a combination of our original material, with a little humour mixed in. We hope to play a few festivals this summer.
Talk to you later
